Bar owner: Pace student accelerated before shooting death

The owner of the now-shuttered bar at the center of the fatal shooting of a Pace University student by police officers is now sharing his eyewitness-version of the events that unfolded before the student's death.

Stephen Van Ostrand is the owner of Finnegan's Grill in Thornwood, the bar where Danroy Henry was reportedly going to before he was fatally shot by police in the parking lot.

Van Ostrand says that he was there the night Henry was shot, and adds that Henry's vehicle came to a complete stop in front of a police officer before accelerating again, at which point he says the officers began firing. Van Ostrand's story contradicts the claims made by Henry's family with regard to the events leading up to their son's death.

Michael Sussman, the attorney for the Henry family, says that Van Ostrand?s motives are questionable, as he has an allegiance with the local police department.
