WC elementary school damaged in truck crash

No students were injured this morning when a tractor-trailer crashed into an Edgemont elementary school, but the building will have to undergo some renovations before the damaged portion can be declared safe.

Fire officials say that a tractor-trailer was unable to negotiate a turn in front of the Seely Place Elementary School around 10 a.m. and, in an attempt to back up his truck, wound up driving his vehicle into a column in the front of the school.

The driver is not being ticketed for the damage to the school, as investigators have deemed the crash to be purely accidental. Architects and engineers are being called in to inspect the damage to the school and to perform the necessary repairs.
