Jury remains deadlocked in ex-cop's manslaughter trial
The jury for the trial of a former Eastchester police officer accused of manslaughter says it is still deadlocked on a verdict.
Jury members told the judge again today that they can?t reach a unanimous decision on the top charge of second-degree manslaughter against James Pileggi.
Pileggi has admitted to shooting and killing Andre Everett in what he calls a tragic accident in 2009.
Based on questions they've sent out to the judge, it appears the sticking point is how conscious James Pileggi was of the risks he faced when handling the gun.
It is the second time the jury has said it is deadlocked on the manslaughter charge. It is not known how long Judge Barbara Zambelli will wait to declare a mistrial, if the jury can't reach a verdict.
