State: Recording has sweat lodge victim's words

(AP) - A jury could hear the words of a womanwho died in a sweat lodge ceremony run by a motivational speaker ifa judge allows it.

Prosecutors say the audio recording of an open microphone eventheld during a James Arthur Ray seminar in October 2009 will revealthe mental state of Kirby Brown.

Brown was one of three people who died following the ceremonynear Sedona.

Yavapai County Attorney Sheila Polk is seeking to have therecording admitted in Ray's manslaughter trial. The defense opposesit.

A judge will decide the matter Friday morning.

Ray has pleaded not guilty to three counts of manslaughter.Prosecutors say he ratcheted up the heat in the sweat lodge to adangerous level.
