Pedestrian fatally struck on flooded Yorktown roads

A woman has died and a man was sent to the hospital after they were hit by a vehicle on a water-logged road in Yorktown early Monday morning.

Police say that the two were walking along Route 202 near Garden Lane around 5:30 a.m. when they were hit. The man was rushed to Hudson Valley Hospital in an unknown condition, but the woman was killed in the crash.

Police did say that the road was flooded at the time of the collision, but would not comment on whether that played a role in the woman's death.

Route 202 and Lexington Avenue in Lake Mohegan were shut down for an accident investigation, but reopened around 7:30 a.m.
