Irish eyes shine brightly at Yonkers St. Patrick's Day parade

Despite the pouring rain, residents came out to the annual St. Patrick's Day parade in Yonkers Sunday.

This year's grand marshal was Roy Mclaughlin, a retired Yonkers police officer and bagpiper. Mclaughlin said he was honored and proud to lead the parade.

Yonkers firefighter Mike Giroux, who rescued two men from scaffolding that collapsed 13 stories off the ground on Friday, led the Yonkers Fire Department as members marched. Giroux said he was busting with pride as he marched with his brothers.

While this year's turnout paled in comparison to last year's due to the rainy weather, many residents said it wouldn't stop them from going out and celebrating.
