Deliberations begin in 3rd murder retrial for Selwyn Days
Jury deliberations got under way today in the third murder retrial of a Mount Vernon man accused of stabbing an Eastchester millionaire and his caretaker to death.
Selwyn Days is accused of killing Archie Harris and Harris' home health aide, Betty Ramcharan, in Harris' Eastchester home in 1996.
Days' first trial ended in a hung jury, and a conviction reached in a second trial was later overturned.
Prosecutors say that Days believed Harris had sexually abused his mother, giving him a motive for the killings, but the defense says that Days was in North Carolina at the time of the murders and should be acquitted.
