Court orders new trial in 1994 rape, murder case

An appeals court today overturned the conviction of one of two men found guilty of raping and murdering a 12-year-old girl in Putnam County 14 years ago.

In 1994, Susan Wright's daughter Josette disappeared. A year later, the girl's body was discovered in the woods outside her hometown of Carmel. In 1997, Andrew Krivak and Anthony DiPippo were convicted in Josette Wright's rape and murder.

Now, however, DiPippo's conviction has been reversed because his defense lawyer failed to reveal he also represented another man who was a possible suspect in the case.

"I know that everything will work out and the witnesses will be there, and maybe we can even make a stronger case," Susan Wright says.

DiPippo is expected to stand trial again at the Putnam County Courthouse. So far, however, no date has been set.
