Jury continues deliberations in WC murder retrial

A jury is still deliberating in the third murder trial of a Mount Vernon man accused of killing an Eastchester millionaire and his home health aide more than 14 years ago.

Selwyn Days allegedly stabbed Archie Harris and Harris' home health aide, Betty Ramcharan, to death in Harris' Eastchester home in Nov. 1996.

A verdict had been expected as early as this afternoon, but the jury asked to see Days' taped confession again and to see floor plans of Harris' home.

Days' first trial ended in a hung jury. A conviction in his retrial conviction was later overturned.

Prosecutors say Days believed Harris had abused his mother, who was a former employee of Harris, but the defense has maintained that Days was out of the state at the time of the murder.
