Police probe attempted New Rochelle bank robbery
Police are searching for a suspect who they say tried to rob a Citibank in New Rochelle this morning.
Police say the attempted robbery happened at around 10 a.m. at 238 North Ave. According to investigators, the alleged robber walked into the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money.
Investigators say the teller set off an alarm and the would-be robber ran out of the bank empty-handed, fleeing on foot on North Avenue.
The bank was temporarily closed following the incident, but reopened about 40 minutes later.
Police describe the suspect as a 6-foot-tall male wearing a puffy jacket.
