Lawrence Hospital patients tested after hepatitis scare
Ten patients who were treated at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville are now undergoing tests after being potentially exposed to several serious diseases.
Hospital officials say that surgical trays were cleaned and disinfected, but not properly sterilized, leading to the possible exposure back in January. The diseases that the patients might have been exposed to include Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV. Hospital officials say they contacted all of the possibly affected patients by letter and have provided further training to their staff to reinforce patient safety.
