Pair of fatal bus crashes examined in NJ, NY

Authorities are now investigating a pair of fatal bus crashes that occurred in New York and New Jersey in the course of just two days.

State police say a luxury tour bus heading from Chinatown to Philadelphia somehow entered the center median last night before striking an overpass and hitting an embankment, killing the driver and one other person along the New Jersey Turnpike in East Brunswick.

The crash came a little more than a day after a bus crashed on the Bronx/Westchester border early Sunday morning, killing 15 people.

Federal investigators are probing the whereabouts of the driver involved in the Bronx/Westchester crash in the moments before the bus departed. State police in New Jersey are expected to inspect the wreckage from the second crash sometime today.

AP wire services contributed to this report.
