Rockland executive shines positive light on county in annual speech

County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef (R-Rockland) delivered his 18th State of the County address Tuesday night, using the speech to shine a positive light on the county and its achievements.

"I think the county of Rockland has turned the page," said Vanderhoef. "We've turned the corner from an economic point of view."

Vanderhoef outlined the accomplishments of the county, mentioning that while economic conditions have been tough, the county has shown promise, boasting the third-lowest unemployment rate in the state and adding more than 6,800 new jobs in the past year.

He also took time out to honor outstanding achievements by county employees and officials, as well as honoring emergency personnel who risked their lives to save others.
