Police: Clarkstown family arrested for abusing woman from India

Police say they have arrested a Clarkstown family on accusations that they held a young woman from India as household sex slave.

The woman, who came to Clarkstown under an arranged marriage in 2008, was allegedly sexually abused by her husband while other family members forced her to do house work and physically abused her, according to investigators.

All four family members say they are innocent.

The family has been charged with numerous crimes, including labor trafficking. If convicted, they could face up to seven years behind bars.
