HV woman killed in apparent FL triple-murder suicide

Residents in one Rockland community are reeling after news that a long-time former resident was a victim of an apparent triple-murder suicide in Florida Tuesday.

Police say Mara Shuman, who had two sons that grew up in the New City area, was killed by her boyfriend's nephew, Emile Schriebman, in Schriebman's father's home in Tarpon Springs, Fla.

Investigators say a man matching Schriebman's description was seen fleeing a burning gun shop sometime around 2 a.m., a gun shop that is close to the victim's home. Schriebman is alleged to have shot Shuman, her boyfriend, Michael Howard Schriebman, and her boyfriend's mother multiple times before turning the gun on himself.

Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski says that the county is offering its support to the Shuman family, and that he says there will be some sort of memorial for Shuman in New City in the future.
