Police investigate string of fatal shootings around WC

Police are investigating three fatal shootings that have occurred around Westchester since Thursday, and investigators say all three incidents have a common thread: the victims were shot as they sat in their cars.

Police have not indicated whether the shootings may be related.

In Dobbs Ferry last Thursday, the body of Bassam Alshabarbi, of Yonkers, was found in his car with a gunshot wound to the chest. Police have not released much information on the case and have not said whether it appears to be homicide or a suicide.

Last Friday, Jonathan Storm Johnson, 21, was found dead in his car on Dekalb Avenue in White Plains, investigators say. A search of the vehicle turned up 20 bags of marijuana, according to police. They have ruled Johnson's death a homicide.

Police say that the next day, a man was shot eight times as he sat in his car talking with his girlfriend on South 10th Avenue in Mount Vernon. Investigators have not released the deceased victim's identity. They say the woman was not injured.

Police are asking anyone with information on these cases to contact them.
