Letterman joins conversation on Indian Point concerns
Late-night talk-show host and Westchester resident David Letterman has joined a growing number of people questioning the safety of the Indian Point nuclear plant in Buchanan.
Letterman spoke to a renowned physicist on his show this week, saying that he doesn't see the benefits from the plant that would justify keeping it open, in light of the new safety concerns raised by a recent review of the nation's nuclear plants.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) says that officials from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) tell him that Indian Point will be its top priority in an upcoming nationwide earthquake-safety review.
Also taking action, Rep. Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.) says she'll introduce a bill in Washington, D.C. next week calling for stricter relicensing laws of nuclear plants across the nation.
