Cops: Ex-assistant principal arrested for sexual contact with minor

A former assistant principal at a New Rochelle elementary school has been arrested and charged with allegedly having sexual contact with a 14-year-old male student.

Police say 38-year-old Jose Martinez repeatedly performed sexual acts with the teenager inside Isaac Young Middle School, also in New Rochelle, while he was working as an administrative dean.

Officials say that the victim's mother told police that she suspected that something had gone on between her son and Martinez, but that she wasn't sure of what. An investigation eventually revealed that Martinez allegedly engaged in ongoing manual and oral sex with the student from March - June 2010.

School officials say Martinez passed a background check and there were no complaints against him on record.

Martinez resigned from his post as the assistant principal of the Jefferson Elementary School two weeks ago. He is being held on $500,000 bail.
