Friends, family back educator accused of sexual encounters with boy

A dozen friends and family members came out today in support of Jose Martinez, the educator accused of having numerous sexual encounters with a 14-year-old boy at the Isaac Young Middle School.

Friends, family members and former students of Martinez say they are shocked by the allegations and say they believe he is innocent.

Martinez had been the dean at Isaac Young Middle School and a former assistant principal at Jefferson Elementary School.

The school district is holding a number of meetings with parents and students over the allegations. The district will hold a meeting tonight at the Albert Leonard Middle School and tomorrow evening at the Isaac Young Middle School.
