Car wraps around tree in Sprain Brook Parkway crash

Police say a young man is in serious condition after his car crashed into a tree on the Sprain Brook Parkway this morning.

The accident happened on the northbound side of the Sprain Brook Parkway between Tuckahoe Road and Jackson Avenue, according to authorities.

Fire and emergency crews say the tree actually sliced through the driver's roof and into the driver's seat, leaving the man with two broken legs and severe internal injuries. They say they had to cut through the crushed car and remove him through the back seat.

Officials say they are investigating whether speed or wet weather played a role in the accident.
