Freezing temps still wreaking havoc in HV

If you plan on heading outside today, bundle up and be prepared for temperatures that are still well below freezing and, with the wind chill, are approaching the single digit marks.

While the skies may be clear, the sun will not be enough to melt all of the ice left over from the recent storm as temperatures hover around the 20-degree mark with wind chill factored in.

Metro-North officials say that they have had to reduce their weekday rush hour service by 10 percent because nearly 40 percent of their train cars are out of service. They say recent weather caused problems with the train doors, brakes and motors. The reduced schedule begins next Monday and will continue through March 4. A Sunday schedule will be in effect for both weekend days beginning Saturday.
