Police: Driver in upstate crash that killed WC student was drunk

Police in Rochester say the driver of a car that crashed and killed a Westchester College student was drunk at the time of the accident.

Investigators say that 20-year-old Danielle Pitcher, of Oswego, was drunk when she lost control and crashed into a snowbank on Jan. 22. The crash critically injured Gabrielle Acevedo, 21, a resident of Port Chester and a Westchester College student.

On Friday, Acevedo succumbed to her injuries.

"She had everything going for her," Acevedo?s mother, Ginger Acevedo, said. "Wonderful life she had at 21 years, she had a great time in college, great four years."

Pitcher was released on bail and is expected in court Feb. 24.
