New schedule in effect on Metro-North's New Haven line
A modified service plan takes effect on Metro-North weekday trains today as repairs are made to train cars that were disabled during the latest rounds of winter weather to hit the Hudson Valley.
Metro-North officials say that nearly half of their trains on the New Haven line, some 140 trains in total, were damaged during all of the snow and ice storms that have pummeled the region since December.
Weekday train service will be reduced by as much as 10 percent, meaning there will be less trains running, and more people riding them.
Metro-North spokespeople say that they are working to put some 300 new cars into service to help alleviate any potential delays.
