Bronx woman found dead in her home

Officers responding to a wellness check discovered the body of a Bronx woman inside her Concourse home.

Police say the 51-year-old woman was found at around 11 p.m. Tuesday at 121 East Clarke Place with apparent trauma. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to neighbors, the victim had multiple stab wounds to the chest. They say she lived alone, but has two grown children, one of which just joined the Army.

The woman's identity has not yet been released, and no arrests have been made at this time. Her next door neighbor says she hadn't seen or heard from the victim all week, which was rather unusual.

Friends and neighbors of the victim say she was about a week away from celebrating her birthday.
