Officials: Cocaine found hidden in luggage at JFK

A passenger suspected of smuggling cocaine into the country got sniffed out by a U.S. Customs K-9 at JFK International Airport.

On Nov. 16, a dog alerted his handler to a suspicious suitcase coming into the country from Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Jerrita Baker, who owns the luggage, was taken to a private search room where agents found five pounds of cocaine hidden in the lining.

The street value of the drug is estimated at $87,000.

Baker faces federal narcotics smuggling charges.
