Pelham Bay Park to have extended off-leash hours

Bronx residents will soon have a place for their four-legged companions to roam free without a leash.

The new dog run at Pelham Bay Park is expected to accommodate about 30 dogs at once. It is located near Middletown Road and Stadium Avenue.

Currently, there is only one off-leash hour in the park while construction is underway, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. every day.

Pet owners say they're willing to put up with the one-hour limit, since the new park will offer amenities such as water.

Once the dog run opens next spring, owners and their pets can enjoy extended off-leash hours.
