83-year-old woman fights off robber

An 83-year-old woman is recovering after fighting back against a man who tried to rob her in her own apartment building.

Marion Winters recounted the attack in an interview with News 12, saying she lost her balance and cut her head open while defending herself. She says a second man stayed outside as a lookout.

Authorities have released surveillance video showing the two suspects, who they say followed Winters to her home on Longfellow Avenue in Tremont Tuesday and tried to take her purse.

Winters was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital and released after receiving staples for her head wound.

Anyone with information that could help should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS
