Voters head to polls for Election Day
New Yorkers are heading to the polls today to cast their ballots in a number of statewide and local races.
There is a big focus on the gubernatorial race this year, with Gov. Andrew Cuomo widely expected to win a second term, according to the most recent polls. He has a more than 20-point lead over the Republican candidate, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino.
Aside from the local congressional races, the other major state elections include the race for attorney general and comptroller.
Poll workers say they were busy in the morning and expect a rush as people get out of work.
The polls are open throughout the city until 9 p.m. If you suspect any possible violations at your polling site, you can call the elections complaint hotline at 718-254-7000.
