Homegrown hot sauce debuts in BX

A company is producing the borough's first home-grown hot sauce.

Bronx Hot Sauce is filled with vines of serrano peppers to give it some Bronx flavor.

The ingredients for the sauce are grown at community gardens, including one on Kelly Street.

Small Axe Peppers produces the hot sauce. John Crotty says the goal is for the sauce to be known throughout the city.

Small Axe Peppers plans on taking the proceeds from the hot sauce and rolling it back into different community initiatives.

The hot sauce can be found at green and youth markets around the borough.
