PINE BUSH - Pine Bush School District officials will be meeting with the Anti-Defamation League in response to allegations of anti-Semitism.

The Anti-Defamation League, which has been fighting anti-Semitism for more than 100 years, is getting involved after a group of Jewish families filed a lawsuit against the Pine Bush School District, claiming their children have been victims of anti-Semitism.

The allegations include jokes about the Holocaust, physical attacks and reports that a swastika was drawn by force on a student’s face.

The group's goal is to equip the Jewish community with constructive responses to anti-Semitism. Evan Bernstein, the regional director for the Anti-Defamation League, says more than 300 people from around the county attended workshops in Orange earlier this month that focused on teaching families and children how to stand up to anti-Semitism.

School district officials set up a meeting with the group next week.

"We really look forward to hearing what they are doing and if there is anything we can do to enhance or offer our expertise," officials said.
