YONKERS - A woman's pain turned into one of the happiest moments of her life Wednesday morning after she slipped and fell in her apartment at around 1 a.m.

When officers and emergency crews arrived at her apartment on Stratton Street in Yonkers, they realized there was more to the call than first expected. The pain the woman was suffering from wasn't from the fall, it was because at 38 weeks pregnant, she was in labor.

In close quarters, four Yonkers officers and four Empress Ambulance personnel went to work. The baby boy was delivered without complications.

Officers came to visit the mother and child at St. John's Hospital later in the day. When she found out their first names, she told them she was naming her child Anthony in honor of the officers, including Anthony Scaramuzzo, who had helped with the birth.

Little Anthony weighed in at 9 pounds, 7 ounces. Police say both mom and child are happy and healthy.
