Yonkers Police Officer Scott R. Stefanik facing criminal possession of a controlled substance
YONKERS - A Yonkers police officer is facing drug charges after being busted by members of his own department.
Police say fellow officers noticed Scott R. Stefanik, one of their off-duty officers, involved in a drug transaction in the Locust Hill Avenue area on Thursday night during a narcotics investigation.
The suspect, a three-year member of the department in the Communications Division, has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

Stefanik's father is reportedly a 16-year veteran on the force.
Stefanik is now charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Yonkers Criminal Court, but police would only say at a later date. He is being represented by Police Union Attorney Andrew Quinn.
