YONKERS - A Yonkers firefighter is being hailed as a hero for fighting his neighbors' kitchen fire and potentially saving the house, which belongs to former Yonkers Councilman Dennis Robertson.

P.J. Goldfeder got a knock on his door Saturday morning from his neighbor's daughter, saying that the kitchen was on fire.

Goldfeder was able to grab a fire extinguisher, ensure the family's safety, and fight the flames until backup could arrive.

Goldfeder refuses to take credit for saving the house, but the fire chief says the home could have been a complete loss without his help.
