Wild police chase ends in crash in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN - A wild police chase ended with a crash that sent an Orange County woman to the hospital.

Police say Theresa Clemons, 41, of Port Jervis, was stopped for driving with an expired inspection certificate yesterday around noon on Route 211 in Mount Hope. They say she gave the officer a false name. Officers found that she had a revoked license.

Police report Clemons then sped off, leading officers on a high-speed chase. Clemons hit two moving cars, and later crashed into a fence and tree on Monhagan Avenue in Middletown. Clemons suffered a serious head injury and was flown to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

She will be charged with fleeing police, resisting arrest, criminal impersonation among others.
