WHITE PLAINS - Wet weather wasn’t enough to cancel the Fourth of July celebration at White Plains High School Wednesday night.

A much smaller crowd than year’s past showed up to be dazzled by the fireworks display. They were met by a thunderstorm, lightning and a downpour.

The live music, rides for kids and other activities for the annual party had to be canceled.

Officials say they went ahead with the fireworks show because there was no makeup date.
