Walter Panas High School evacuated

CORTLANDT MANOR - Walter Panas High School in Cortlandt Manor was evacuated for about two hours Friday morning.

School officials put emergency procedures into effect just after 10 a.m. Officials say police did a sweep of the building as part of an "outside investigation."

Police tell News 12 there was never any danger, and the investigation did not have any direct connection to the school.

Students were directed to school buses in the parking lot at 300 Croton Ave. Some students told News 12 there was confusion because at first they went into lockdown, but were eventually told to evacuate without jackets or taking anything with them.

Students were allowed back into the building later in the day to resume classes.
