POMONA - Police have released the identity of the woman killed in a two-vehicle accident in Pomona yesterday.

Police say Cecilia Islas-Galvez, 44, of Passaic, N.J., was killed in the collision around 7:30 a.m. yesterday on Route 202 near the junction of Route 306.

Islas-Galvez and Carolina Murillo-Mejis, 34, were passengers in a Dodge minivan that crossed the double yellow line after striking black ice, and was then T-boned by an Acura sedan carrying three men. The wreckage was so bad that it took firefighters over 45 minutes to extricate all the people from the vehicles.

Islas-Galvez was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where she died from injuries sustained in the crash. Murillo-Mejis is at Westchester Medical Center in critical condition. The driver of the van, Ranulfo Tula-Nocelott, 44, of Passaic, N.J., was taken to Nyack Hospital with serious internal injuries and remains hospitalized.

Officials say two of the men in the sedan, Luis Lopez-Martinez and Honiel Capellan, were taken to a hospital and released. A third man, Oscar Capellao-Fermid, was transported to Westchester Medical Center from Nyack Hospital and is in critical condition with internal injuries.
