MOUNT VERNON - Residents at a Mount Vernon apartment building continue to struggle in the cold, five days after the boiler broke down.

The boilers in the complex at 630 East Lincoln Ave. stopped working over the weekend and people living there have been without any heat and hot water for days.

Tenants tell News 12 they took extreme measures to stay warm like boiling water on the stove and keeping oven doors open. "I have to be resourceful because I'll freeze to death in here," says resident Equinthia Tyson.

The city has issued violations to the landlord, and the city was told the landlord is waiting for equipment to be delivered so repairs can be made.

News 12 reached out to the landlord and building manager. The manager, Alice Dove, said she can not talk to the media and landlord Arron Seligson has not returned calls.
