YONKERS - Tenants at a Yonkers apartment building are speaking out today against building management after a raging apartment fire sent two people to the hospital on Tuesday.

Frustrated residents who live at 461 Riverdale Ave. packed a tenants association meeting at the Yonkers Riverfront Library to discuss alleged mismanagement by the building's landlord.

Officials say the fire at the building was deliberately set and tenants say they think it was set by one of their neighbors.

They say lately their apartment complex has become home to numerous troublesome tenants, and they are calling on their landlord to conduct better background checks for incoming residents.

The mayor's office says it is monitoring the situation, and will take action if and when appropriate.

Yonkers police are still investigating what they are calling a suspicious fire. They say they are looking into all of the building's residents as part of their investigation.
