Teachers call for change as result of new Common Core curriculum
YONKERS - There's a call for change from teachers all across the state as a result of the new Common Core curriculum.
Pat Puleo, president of the Yonkers Teachers Union, spoke before the Yonkers Chamber of Commerce today about the new curriculum and its impact on education. She says parents and educators have major concerns about how teachers have been trained and how students are supposed to learn.
Puleo says that nearly 80 union representatives and teachers statewide gave New York Education Commissioner John King a vote of no confidence.

The Yonkers Teachers Union is also asking the state to give districts time to create a curriculum that coincides with the state tests that children are expected to take.
