Super Bowl Week kicks off in NY/NJ

NEW YORK - The Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks arrived in the tri-state yesterday getting ready to battle it during the big game at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

Even though the big game is being played in New Jersey, festivities are taking place all across New York City and this could impact your daily commute to work or school.

In Manhattan, Broadway has been shut down to traffic from 34th Street to 47th Street and 41st Street between 6th and 7th avenues and has been renamed Super Bowl Boulevard. The streets will be closed from 9 a.m. to midnight for the entire week so fans can celebrate all things football. Organizers say there are numerous cool activities and events, including a seven-story toboggan slide.

Electronic signs on Hudson Valley parkways are flashing messages to take mass transit in order to head into midtown. Commuters can expect to see trains that are more packed than usual but since Super Bowl Boulevard opens at noon, the morning commute on Metro-North won't be too crowded.

Super Bowl Boulevard officially opens on Wednesday and runs until Saturday.
