State Sen. Greg Ball denies allegations he misused campaign funds
CARMEL - State Sen. Greg Ball (R-40th District) says allegations that he is under investigation for misusing campaign funds are not true.
The accusations were made earlier Thursday by State Assemblyman and Ball's fellow Republican, Steve Katz (R-Mohegan Lake). Katz was holding a press conference to announce his run for re-election and the questioning turned to Ball, who will reportedly not seek re-election this year. Katz was asked if he would consider running for Ball's seat, and Katz claimed Ball is under investigation by U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.
Katz claims Ball and four other state senators are on a list of politicians who have abused campaign funds, and the investigation is part of a follow-up to an investigation by the Moreland Commission. He would not elaborate, but sources say Ball used campaign funds for personal use.

Ball was at the Putnam County Golf Course Thursday taking part in a golf tournament and completely denied Katz's allegations.
A spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office declined comment. Ball is expected to announce his future political plans tomorrow.
