Service held at War Monument in Yonkers to remember veterans
YONKERS - Dozens turned out in Yonkers to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom.
The 7th Ward Memorial Service was held yesterday at the War Monument on Park Hill Avenue in Yonkers. The yearly event, held right before Memorial Day, pays tribute to those who died in World War I, World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars.
A wreath was laid at the monument before names of those soldiers killed in combat were read. "Remembering. It's all about remembering and thanking those who made that supreme sacrifice," says 7th Ward Chairperson Sam Riti.
