MOUNT VERNON - A Mount Vernon man was shot and killed by police after allegedly robbing a pharmacy at gunpoint in Manhattan.

Police say Scott Kato walked into Health Source Pharmacy on Second Avenue Friday afternoon with a gun, and demanded prescription pills and money. They say he fled the scene and was tracked with a device inside the prescription bottles.

He was found in a gray SUV heading north on the FDR's service road near East 96th Street when police say he pulled out a gun. Officers then shot at Kato, hitting him in the chest and killing him.
