The boardwalk will be back in business for the start of the season on May 10.

RYE - The newly built Rye Playland boardwalk is reopening today after suffering massive damage from Hurricane Sandy.

When county officials inspected the park back in January 2013, they found that older sections of the boardwalk which used a Brazilian hardwood were in better shape than areas which consisted of pressure treated lumber. The decision was made to replace the wood with the more expensive Brazilian hardwood because it was more durable.

Most of that work has been finished, and the boardwalk will be back in business for the start of the season on May 10.
