NEW ROCHELLE - Police are investigating what happened to a New Rochelle man before he was found unconscious and bleeding in the street Saturday morning.

Ruben Lopez, 31, was found at the intersection of Alpha Place and Pelham Road Saturday morning, only a few blocks away from where he lives with his wife and two daughters. Police found him facedown and unconscious, bleeding from his head and ear. He remains in a coma at Jacobi Medical Center.

Lopez's wife says he went to the store the night before he was found with a man she didn't recognize and never came home.

New Rochelle Police Capt. Joseph Schaller says police are exploring all possibilities, including whether he was on top of a nearby garage and fell off. Police are gathering nearby surveillance video to look for any clues.
