YONKERS - Reading and math skills alone just aren't enough to excel in today's economy, so that's why a group of Yonkers high school students are putting technology to the test.

Students at Riverside High School earned the honor of Yonkers' School of the Month for their problem-solving skills and the success of their robotics team.

Students follow a rigorous course of engineering, science and technology and learn to put together their robots. They then take their robots on the road and compete against other teams.

The students also participate in challenges. It took them about a week to build one robot, and it plays music.

One Riverside student said, "It gets stressful sometimes, but you get the hang of learning what goes where, and when something is not working, where the problem really is."
