NEWBURGH - Police are offering a reward for the man who they say is responsible for fatally shooting two women and injuring five others at a Halloween party in Newburgh on Sunday morning.

Police say they are offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the location, arrest and conviction of 17-year-old Nija Johnson. They say he is wanted for second-degree murder.

Police say Johnson opened fire at the party being held inside 119 Broadway in Newburgh just before 1 a.m. Sunday.

Omani Free, 18, a high school senior at Newburgh Free Academy, and 20-year-old Tabitha Cruz, also from Newburgh, were both killed in the shooting.

Two other men faced a judge Monday in connection to the shootings.

Investigators say that 21-year-old Rainier Hamilton hid a semi-automatic handgun allegedly used in the shooting. His family claims that Hamilton grabbed the gun to stop the shooting, potentially saving multiple lives. Tyson Oliveira, 20, is accused of removing a gray sweatshirt that allegedly was used by the shooter.

Police have not released a motive for the shootings yet.
