Resort developers pitch casino in Tuxedo

Developers want to build a "family-oriented" resort behind the Tuxedo Ridge Ski Center. (4/29/14)

TUXEDO - Just days after Caesars pitched a plan for a Las Vegas-style casino in Woodbury, another developer is saying it wants to build one in the Hudson Valley.

Hundreds of town residents came out yesterday to take a first look at a new casino, which developers are proposing to build behind the Tuxedo Ridge Ski Center.

The developer, "Genting Americas," currently owns a slot parlor at the Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens. They want to build a state-of-the-art resort on land located off Route 17-A and transform the space into a family oriented tourist destination. "We're not just bringing a casino. We're bringing an entertainment destination resort that will bring amenities and enhance the local community," says Christian Goode, of Genting America.

The state is not expected to make any final decisions about the casinos until next fall.
