Residents evacuated during New Rochelle apartment fire

NEW ROCHELLE - An apartment fire in New Rochelle forced residents into the cold Sunday morning.

Flames began shooting out of the roof of 1 Glencar Ave. around 11 a.m. Officials say the fire appears to be electrical.

Fire crews say icy roads made attacking the fire difficult. They were able to extinguish the fire with the help of 27 responders.

The New Rochelle Fire Department called in mutual aid to assist in battling the blaze.

News 12 was told that residents are being allowed back into their homes.
